A full tub was being lowered by a collier down a road into ‘a jut’ by means of a chain round a prop, and when passing a level near the bottom end of the road it got off the way. The deceased man shouted to the man who was lowering the tub to keep hold of the chain and then lifted it on to the rails, the collier thinking the tub had reached the jut released the chain, and as soon as the deceased got the tub on to the way it overpowered and carried him seven yards, and fatally crushed him against some tubs that were below. One of the colliers should have followed the tub down if this had been done in this instance the accident would not have occurred.
