- Details of Event
- He was hewing in a broken jud when a stone 6 feet long, 4 feet 4 inches wide and 3 feet 9 inches thick fell from the roof and killed him. This stone was bounded on three sides by slips and on the fourth side by a breaker. It came off at the coal face and in falling broke two props. The maximum timbering distance was 6 feet and had been complied with. It is difficult to see how this accident could have been prevented.
