Died June 13. Deceased and another hewer were working together in the broken workings of the Bensham seam. At the time of the accident deceased was standing behind a prop set close to the face watching his marrow try to relieve some coal already kirved by nicking it at the fast side when a slab of coal fell from the upper part of the seam and knocked the prop out which struck deceased in the stomach. The Local Inspector ported, 'we think it has been a pure accident'.
