- Died 24th October, 1905. Deceased while stripping and filling coal after a coal cutter in the yard seam longwall was injured about the thigh by a fall of stone from the roof and was taken to the Newcastle Infirmary, where he remained about three weeks; he returned home and resumed work and was soon after again attended by a doctor for stomach and other troubles, and he got worse, and died on the 19th May, 1904. An inquest was held and a postmortem examination made. The medical evidence showed that he died from tubercular disease of lungs and peritoneum, which had no connection with the accident and so the Jury found.
