- Details of Event
- After firing a shot, and whilst removing some loose stones, it was alleged that deceased scratched two of his fingers. He continued at work, and later the wounds appeared to have been very imperfectly dressed. Some days afterwards they were seen by a doctor, who removed the dirty dressings and applied proper treatment. The wounds were healed, but septic poisoning bad set in arid the man subsequently died. No notice of the alleged accident was sent to me until after the inquest, and the coroner being of opinion that it was not a case noticeable to me, sent no notice of the inquest. The jury, however returned a verdict of accidental death.
