- Deceased was run over and killed by an outgoing journey of 24 trams of coal. How he got run over is not known. Soon after the journey started out he was found between two trams, with his legs twisted round one of the axles. The journey was stopped but while the two riders were preparing to release him, the engineman pulled the journey on, and, before a signal to stop could be given, he was drawn 9 yards He died soon after. The engineman swore at the inquest that he had had a signal to pull out.
