Details of Event
This accident arose from a misunderstanding standing between the hitchers on the upper and lower decks of a simultaneous loading installation. The hitcher on the upper deck thinking that he had received a signal from the lower deck that all was right signalled the carriage away as he had secured his tram. Deceased who was scotching at the time, was lifted a short distance and dropped back into the sump. The hitcher who made the mistake had been employed some capacity for 25 years.
