- Details of Event
- Deceased was working at some side landing in a Thick Coal stall. He had partly undergotten a length of coal, but as the coal was very strong, the stallman thought a shot necessary to get it down. Deceased was cutting it a little at the fast end when the piece fell, and he apparently stepped in front of it, being killed instantly. The fall was 10 feet long, 4 feet thick at the top, and the height of the place 6 feet. It came off to a slip at the back, running to the loose end.
