When, with his comrade, taking a tram with two 9 feet timbers in it from a heading where it was placed to allow of a full tram passing it, his head was in some way crushed by one of the timbers against the side, but exactly how it came about was not satisfactorily explained by his comrade, the road being of very ample size.
