- A journey of five laden trams were being drawn up the slant when a link of the first shackle broke. Four trams ran back into the parting from which they had just been taken passing over deceased and killing him. The slant dipped 19 inches per yard. The bar-hook failed to hold them but threw them off the rails. It was thought that the shackle had a twist in it.
