Deceased was attending to other sinkers who were walling the shaft when a bowk filled with bricks was lowered rapidly and crashed through the stage upon which they were standing. Deceased fell through the hole so made into 12 feet of water, which had accumulated in the bottom. He was in all probability struck on the head and stunned by the bowk, or he would have escaped, as he was a good swimmer. The engineman said that he had failed to pull over the reversing lever and was therefore unable to stop his engine.
