Deceased was working at the coal face when the roof uncapped and displaced some props. A piece of roof, 5 feet by 5 feet by 2 feet 6 inches, fell on deceased and killed him outright. The roof was considerably broken up with slips, and deceased had neglected to set a bar which the fireman had ordered him to put up one and a quarter hours previously.
