- Falls in Mine (b) Falls of Roof – He was driving a coal cutting machine across the hill in a heading rising at a gradient of 1 in 4. The brushing face which was flush with the coal was ranced up by two props driven on to a plank. At the moment the machine was stopped at the completion of the cut, it cleared one of the stells, swung down the hill and knocked out one of the supports to the brushing face. A stone was relieved which fractured both legs of deceased; one was a compound injury. Death resulted subsequent to an operation in the Infirmary seven days later. The fireman was present when the accident occurred.
