- Details of Event
- Deceased was removing a piece of iron out of the cage which was standing at the hempstead level, hut not on the keps. He had one foot inside the cage and one on the landing plates when the cage suddenly lowered about 5 feet in response to a signal from the King Seam level. Goulding fell into the cage and received a serious gash wound between his legs. The winding engineman had a full view of the cage, but had evidently forgotten about deceased being in the cage. Goulding was operated on the day following the accident, but died on April 7th, 1915, from pyelonephritis resulting from his injuries.
