- Details of Event
- While engaged on top of the cage with the pitman examining the shaft they stopped at a small pump situated at the side of the pit, about 150 yards from the top and without any apparent cause, he fell down the shaft to the bottom, about 200 yards. The pitman first missed him upon asking for a spanner with which he wanted to screw up a bolt of the engine. The cage is a small one but he seems to have had experience upon it in this work.
