The deceased and his father were engaged in sinking a small shaft had reached a depth of 15 fathoms. After lighting two shots they were being drawn to bank in a kibble and when about 10 fathoms up the deceased by some means fell out. He was probably killed by the fall. The shots went off as he was getting out of the kibble at the surface and it was with difficulty that he was prevented from descending before the shots had exploded.
