- Details of Event
- Deceased and four other men were engaged in turning round the drum in of a new winding engine, using a plank as a lever. Before the men pressed down on the lever, the deceased, who was at the end of it, fell off the planks he was standing on into the space between the engine bell pillars, a distance of 22 feet. There was no reason why he should have fallen off, but he was a somewhat nervous man, and there was no proper flooring on the engine house, the engine being in the course of erection. He died on July 10th from the injuries received.
