He was temporarily acting as a driver and was turning the horse round when it is probable that the shafts struck it prop and knocked it out. This allowed the roof to fall and he was killed on the spot. The fall disclosed slips and it is probable the prop had been partly displaced with a settlement of the strata before it was knocked out.
