Details of Event
Died 13th June, 1904. On the 30th July, 1903, deceased while pushing a timber tram slipped and hurt himself he worked the next two shifts and then was more or less confined to bed for four months and was under the doctor's care. A bone setter was also called in. He was eventually able to get up and move about on crutches. About a fortnight before his death he began to take fits. An inquest was held after a postmortem examination and medical evidence was given that although deceased suffered from hip disease of old standing the cause of death was inflammation of the kidneys unconnected with the hip disease. The Jury found death was due to disease of the kidneys aggravated by the accident.
