- Details of Event
- The deceased was working out some pillars of coal and in the ordinary course of his work left his place to go towards his clothes in the pass-bye. He had only gone a few yards along the full road when some roof coal and dirt fell and killed him. The roof and side had been ripped three days previously stretchers being taken out for the purpose, and they were not replaced by bars as they should have been there was a space of 17 feet between the last bar and the nearest stretcher. Everyone concerned considered the roof was quite safe but, as coal was being removed within a short distance, it should have been supported.
