He had been working about half-an-hour after blasting when a piece of ground fell from the side 10ft. above him, and striking him while in a stooping position, killed him instantly. If the stone had been carefully examined and sounded with a short iron bar it would have been known to be dangerous, and proper precautions could have been taken to pull it down before commencing to work.
