- Details of Event
- Deceased during his third shift in the pit was being taught by a driver how to drive. He was put on the limbers of a pony attached to a tub laden with timber by the wagonwayman who had been instructed by the under manager to teach the lad to drive and told how to sit and to keep his head down as the road was somewhat low. He had only been on the limbers while the pony led by the driver had travelled about 40 yards when he seems to have caught a prop and fallen on a sharp stone by the side of way and fractured his skull. The Local Inspectors in their report simply recited the principal facts connected with the accident.
