He was sitting by the roadside, near the main haulage dip, when a loaded hutch coming up the dip was derailed by a bencher running another hutch into it at the bench where the deceased was sitting. The derailed hutch ran into, and knocked out a tree, allowing the roof to fall on to him where he was sitting. He died the next day from injuries received.
