Whilst filling coal in a straightwork place, he was caught by a fall of roof 6 feet long, 4 feet broad, and 15 inches thick. The fall came, from between two slips, both of which could be seen. One bar, two legs and one prop were displaced by the fall. If one more, prop had been set, the accident would probably have been prevented.
