Deceased offered to remove a prop near the coal face in order to allow a collier's tub to be taken along the face. He knocked it out with a hammer, and a fall of roof immediately took place from two slips and partly buried him, inflicting injuries from which he died on 2nd March. A gablock and chain was provided, hut was not used, and in acting as he did deceased committed a breach of the Coal Mines Act, Section 52 (2).
