- Details of Event
- Falls in Mine (a) Falls of Side - He was repairing near the face of a stone drift and whilst he was shearing the side preparatory to the erection of a set of timber, a slab of blaes weighing about 4 cwts., suddenly slipped. In attempting to evade the stone he fell heavily on his back and sustained a severe injury to his head. The stone struck him about the body and almost severed his left arm. He died about nine hours later. The fireman, chargeman, and deceased examined and tapped the side shortly before the accident and found no indications of danger. The blaes was of a very lipey character.
