- Details of Event
- Deceased and another driver had shunted into a cross road to let a third driver pass, and while standing waiting beside his horse at the outbye end of the tub, a large piece of rock fell from the side. Deceased was seen to stagger and fall, and died when picked up, his neck having been dislocated. There was no mark upon him and it is probable that he dislocated his neck in trying to escape the fall. The rock which fell was in the form of an arch had stood for months without timber, and appeared the officials who passed it daily to be perfectly hard and safe.
