Details of Event
Deceased was undercutting a jud when a fall of about half a ton of coal occurred fracturing his skull. The coal fell from a 'sooty back" at the loose end of the jud. A sprag had been set 3 feet 9 inches from the fast side. It would have been better if a second sprag had been set 6 feet from the fast side also. The ground was slightly disturbed.
