- Details of Event
- Deceased was loading old timber at the junction of two roads on some old Thick Coal workings. The roof was supported by oak bars about 2ft. 6ins. apart, well covered over by poles and slabs. Suddenly, without warning, one of the bars fell out and deceased was buried beneath the debris and timber that slipped down from over the bar. There was nothing to account for the bar reeling except that deceased, in swinging a prop round to throw it into the tub, may have struck the leg on which the end of the bar rested and knocked it away.
