- 6 November 1940: Pit Fatality - While employed at No. 2 pit, Auchengeich Colliery, Chryston, James Gallacher (60), miner, residing at Farm Cottages, Condorrat, was caught by a fall of stone. He received severe bodily injuries and was removed to the Royal Infirmary, Glasgow, where he died. [Scotsman 7 November 1940]
