Deceased was shovelling up dirt at a longwall face, and throwing it on to the pack, when a pyramidal stone 1ft. by 2 ft. 8ins. by 1ft. 9ins. at extremes dropped upon him, without warning, from between four slips converging upwards. He died about two hours afterwards on reaching the surface.
