1 March 1930: Bellshill - Colliery Fatality - On Saturday morning, shortly after seven o'clock, while James Baird was at work in Parkhead Colliery, a fall from the roof took place on top of him. When rescued from the debris life was found to be extinct. Deceased was 42 years of age, and was a married man residing at 168 Hamilton Road, Bellshill. [Hamilton Advertiser 8 March 1930]
