- Details of Event
- He was engaged along with a loco-engineman and fireman in shunting some trucks of waste material into a siding where the refuse is tipped. The engine had pushed the trucks to a certain point and then left them, and from this point the trucks gravitated into the siding. It was the custom to put one or two sprags into the wheels to prevent the trucks moving too quickly, and deceased was doing this when he slipped under the wheels of one of the waggons and was internally injured so seriously that he died on the following day.
