- He was cutting down some overhanging clod when about 8 cwts. of the bow end burst off, knocking out a sprag. As Flint sprang back the sprag struck his left thigh and fractured it. Blood poisoning set in but he refused to have his leg amputated until too late, and he died after the operation on 15th May.
