August 1927: Muirkirk Miner injured – Richard Bain, a miner, residing at Empire Buildings, Muirkirk, was severely crushed and bruised about the lower part of the body by a fall of coal, whilst he was working on Thursday at Grasshill Pit, Glenbuck, belonging to Wm Baird & Co Ltd. After medical attention Bain was removed by ambulance to the home of his mother, his wife and family being on holiday. [Scotsman 6 Aug 1927]
