- 30 November 1920: Mine Accidents - Two serious accidents occurred in Fife on Tuesday morning, one of which proved fatal. A young miner named John Bain, residing with his father at the Town Hall, Lochgelly, was killed in the Nellie Pit, belonging to the Lochgelly Iron and Coal Company, Ltd. He was pushing a hutch when part of the roof gave way and fell on his shoulders, throwing him over the edge of the hutch. Death was instantaneous. Deceased was 16 years of age. Another youth, named George Hodge, residing at Glencraig, was injured by the same fall. He was crushed about the head but was able to walk home.
