15 August 1928: Lochgelly Miner Killed – Robert Fleming, coalcutting machineman, was killed at Glencraig Colliery, Lochgelly on Wednesday morning while at work. He saw a movement in the roof, and fearing a fall of coal made to take refuge at the side of his machine. He was caught in the machinery. His left leg was torn off and death was almost instantaneous. Fleming was 21 years of age.
