- 22 August 1937: Robert Baillie, pithead worker (16) son of George Baillie, pit inspector, Mungall Street, Lumphinnans, Fife, lost his life while employed at No.1 Lumphinnans Colliery yesterday. John Davie, a fellow-worker, on hearing a cry turned round and saw Baillie disappearing over the creeper drum of the picking tables. The machinery was at once stopped, but the lad was found to be dead. [Scotsman 23 August 1937]
