- Details of Event
- A hole had been drilled behind a piece of granite in the hanging wall. He was picking up the drilling gear preparatory to blasting, when the piece of rock fell on to him. When the granite had fallen it was seen that a "soapy head" or "slip" had formed the back of it this, together with the jarring due to the drilling of the shot-hole, had caused the stone to fall. The stone, had it been carefully sounded, would have been known to be dangerous, and proper precautions might then have been taken.
