Deceased was engaged quarrying whinstone for road metal when he came upon several cartridges of gelignite and while attempting to take them from their position with an iron pinch an explosion occurred. The cartridges were part of an unexploded charge of a shot which had been fired with three others about three months before and no one was aware that part of the charge was left. By exposure to the frost the cartridges had become quite hard.
