- Inspection made and inquest attended. He was engaged in haulage downbrow and got crushed by two tubs getting uncoupled from the set attached to rope as he was apparently entering a manhole. Some of the tubs were off the rails which accounted for them getting uncoupled. It was suggested at the inquiry that colliery couplings should be improved.
