- 5 October 1932: Fatal Colliery Accident At Kirkconnel - While engaged producing coal in Fauldhead Colliery , Kirkconnel, yesterday, Charles Ferguson (53), who resided at Kingsway, was struck on the head by a falling stone and killed instantaneously. He was a prominent junior footballer. His brother William plays half-back for Chelsea; another brother is the left winger of Ayr United, and another brother, James, formerly played for Chelsea and Queen's Park Rangers.
