- Whilst preparing to set a prop under the gate lip he was caught by a fall of roof 9 ft long 1.75 ft broad and an average thickness of 9.5 inches. The stone which fell was not the one to which he was going to set the prop. The fall was the result of weight passing over the district, apparently not observed by deceased or his mates.
