- Details of Event
- Deceased was opening a buttock off the top of a jig in a long-wall face in the Winpenny coal. He holed the coal in semicircular form to a maximum depth of nearly 3ft and 7ft with it the front. While doing a bit more to make coal to finish off a load, the roof over the holing fell from a slip and a fault at right angles to each other and converging upwards killing him instantly. It is most probable that a sprag would have prevented this accident and one should have been set in order to comply with General Rule 22.
