Fall of roof on road. While pushing an empty tram along the roadway of a heading, a stone measuring 12ft long 9ft wide and 18ins. in thickness at one end tapering to nothing at the other, felt upon him and his partner, William Hemlock. Evans died the same evening, but Hemlock recovered from his injuries. The roof is sandstone rock. A break was discovered on either side of the roadway after the occurrence. Ynysarwed seam. Naked lights.
