- Details of Event
- Fall of roof at face; a bell-shaped stone 6 feet, by 4 feet, by 10 inches in thickness in shale ground, fell from the sandstone rock roof and so seriously injured him that he died in 12 hours’ time. It appears that an attempt had been made to bar the stone down but it would not yield to the bar. The men then worked away at the coal face and exposed a larger area of the stone which ultimately collapsed. Rock Fawr Seam. Naked lights.
