He was in charge of a coal-cutting machine which was undercutting in the coal on a longwall face when some coal fell off on to the machine and liberated two bars which had been let into the coal at one end and supported by props at the other. The displaced bars liberated a stone 10 feet by 5.75 feet by 2 feet from a slip and a smooth parting in the roof, and deceased was killed by the fall.
