- Details of Event
- Fall of roof on road while enlarging; a coal side of a double road stall was being worked away to enlarge the roadway by 4 feet, so as to convert it into an incline. Above the coal is an irregular bed of shale, and this stratum was left unsupported after the coal had been withdrawn from beneath it. It had been ripped in the old part of the roadway hence it overhung in the new. While Evans was clearing away a portion of this bed which had been taken down the overhanging stratum fell and so injured him that he died on September 25th, 1908. No.2 Rhondda Seam Naked lights.
