A block of stone was being pulled along the floor of the mine by means of a pulley block fastened to a prop at the bottom of the shaft, through which a rope attached to the winding rope was passed, and in doing this the winding rope shackle touched the side of the shaft and loosened a small pie he deceased on the leg and injured it so severely that it had to be amputated. Died on the 9th inst.
