A shot had been fired at the cutting side of a heading. Deceased was holding a light for the deputy who was in the face when a fall of roof killed him. Both the deceased and the deputy examined and pronounced the roof to be good. Three props were displaced by the fall. The inclination of the seam is 1 in 3.5, and it is probable that the timber was not skilfully set.
